Resilient Roots: Ecofeminism in Video Performance NYC 2025

RESILIENT ROOTS II

The show explores the profound intersection of ecofeminism and contemporary art through the lens of six prominent Latin American artists. Using video performance as a powerful medium, the exhibition delves into themes of environmental justice, sustainability, and gender equity. These works illuminate the intimate bond between women and the earth, challenging patriarchal and extractivist systems while inspiring reflections on more sustainable and equitable practices. This timely showcase amplifies underrepresented voices in the global environmental dialogue, fostering critical conversations about humanity's connection to nature.

RESILIENT ROOTS III

This program brings together nine video performance works that, from ecofeminist perspectives, interrogate the relationship between body, territory, and memory. Natacha Voliakovsky (Argentina/NY) articulates resistance and biopolitics through gestures that expose both vulnerability and strength. Analia Segal (Argentina/NY) & María Cabrera (Spain) explores the materiality of the domestic as an extension of the landscape, questioning hierarchies of gender and power. Kevin Quiles Bonilla (Puerto Rico/NY) activates Caribbean memory from the diaspora, addressing displacement and environmental colonialism. Wanda Raimundi Ortiz (Puerto Rico/NY) connects performativity, race, and affective ecologies, positioning the body as an archive of resilience. From Ecuador, Alexandra Trujillo Tamayo and Torris Pelichet draws on ritual, ecofeminism, and body politics to make visible the tensions between nature and technology; Fernanda Noboa experiments with rituality and natural elements; Cristina Duque examines environmental precarity through poetic visual languages; and Wanda López Trelles (Argentina) proposes intimate narratives of territory and embodiment. Finally, Carolina Bazo (Peru) reflects on extractivism and affectivity, revealing interdependence between the human and the non-human. Together, these works expand an ethics of care and resistance.
